Live At Leeds (Remastered / Expanded)»rank: 1313par: The Who
Chroniques et points de vue:From Amazon.co.uk:There are only a handful of genuinely seminal albums, but The Who's Live At Leeds is undoubtedly one. Recorded in the comparatively intimate environs of the University Refectory, Leeds, in February 1970, the two-hour-plus show was heavily truncated and clocked in at a mere 38 minutes upon it's release as an album later the same year. Despite this, the album's six tracks showcased the thermonuclear dynamics that established The Who as the best live rock band in the world. This long overdue deluxe edition features the entire 33 song ... |

Quadrophenia (Remst)»rank: 2912par: The Who
Chroniques et points de vue::An excellent and frequently astonishing album, Quadrophenia is both more ambitious and less accessible than Tommy, the first and most well known rock opera. At its simplest level, Quadrophenia is a coming-of-age story with an awesome soundtrack. The album features some of the Who's finest material, in songs like the enraged 'Real Me,' the cynical 'Punk Meets the Godfather,' the wistful '5:15' and 'Sea and Sand,' and the powerful 'Love, Reign 0'er Me.' The songwriting (courtesy of Pete Townshend) is top-notch, as is the production (the Who actually managed to ... |

Sell Out»rank: 3962par: Who
Chroniques et points de vue: essential recording:The Who Sell 0ut's pirate-radio concept goes south in the album's second half--the Who ran out of time before they could write enough faux commercials--but it still remains in many ways their best and most entertaining album. Pete Townshend and John Entwistle supply song after great song, and along with Keith Moon play them with power and focus. The classic single 'l Can See for Miles' is matched on at least a handful of tracks, including the opening psychedelic-pop blast of 'Armenia City in the Sky' (written by ... |

A Quick One»rank: 10487par: Who
Chroniques et points de vue:From :The Who's second album is a mite inconsistent, not least because all four members were encouraged by a business deal to churn out songs. A Quick 0ne nonetheless manages several Who classics, notably 'A Quick 0ne While He's Away,' Pete Townshend's first longform (10 minutes) piece, and John Entwistle's licensed-to-ill 'Whiskey Man' and 'Boris the Spider.' The band's sense of humor, however, gives way on rote pop tunes like Roger Daltrey's 'See My Way.' But CD bonus tracks like the great 'Disguises' (included in a murkier mix than that ... |
