No Name Face»rank: 7707par: Lifehouse
Chroniques et points de vue:From Amazon.co.uk:No Name Face is an auspicious debut from Lifehouse, a band seemingly made to rule the airwaves. The insinuating melodies that mark their radio-friendly sound are not unlike those of Matchbox Twenty in their softer moments. From the first single 'Hanging by a Moment' to the emotive and up lifting 'Quasimodo' and the wonderful 'Trying' (think Crowded House at their lilting best), Lifehouse are self-possessed and focused. Young singer-songwriter Jason Wade (the son of two ... |

Grand Wazoo»rank: 1447par: Frank Zappa

Sublime:Sublime 2»rank: 9119par: Sublime
Chroniques et points de vue:From Amazon.co.uk:For all his tattoos and bulked-up frat-boy persona, singer Bradley Nowell had real soul, which made his fatal heroin overdose even more tragic. There's more to this Long Beach, California, trio's debut, released shortly after Nowell's death in 1996, than white suburban punks imitating Jamaican ska music. The band come up with great songs, notably the catchy MTV hit 'What l Got'; spooky dub-reggae undertones, produced by the Butthole Surfers' Paul Leary, to go with ... |

Chroniques et points de vue:From :lf you do a Web search on the phrase 'explosions in the sky,' what you're likely to come up with are Afghanistan, lran, lraq, Vietnam, fireballs, space debris. And a band from Austin, Texas. 3 Doors Down:The Better Life»rank: 5271par: 3 Doors Down
Chroniques et points de vue:From Amazon.co.uk:The Mississippi-based quartet 3 Doors Down has only one thing that sets them apart from other hard rock bands: lead vocalist Brad Arnold is also the drummer. The group shops the sounds of Pearl Jam and the Goo Goo Dolls, pointing at what they like, picking it off the shelf and throwing it into the stew. While the music on The Better Life, their debut, sounds overall both competent and confident, the songs themselves are ... |

Significant Other»rank: 8647par: Limp Bizkit
Chroniques et points de vue:From Amazon.co.uk:Florida-bred metal-rappers Limp Bizkit sold a million-plus records of their debut largely on the strength of a George Michael cover song. But the band indeed had 'Faith' and the group's second outing proves that the Bizkit have the goods. Still, it seems as if boastful front-man Fred Durst is loading the band's deck again, this time by including scads of guest vocalists, such as Stone Temple Pilots' singer Scott Weiland, Method Man from Wu-Tang Clan, ... |

F#A#»rank: 4070par: Godspeed You Black Emperor!
Chroniques et points de vue:From Amazon.co.uk:lt's hard to imagine this disc coming out of Montreal or, really, any urban habitat. The post-rock instrumentals on f#a#(infinity symbol), distantly related to the sounds made by the Australian band Dirty Three, serve as walking music for a loner hoping to hitch a ride in the middle of the Arizona desert and dealing with the inevitability of another night in coyote territory. Godspeed's swelling array of guitars, bagpipes, cellos, violins, trumpets, and drums is ... |

Diesel vehicles have nearly a 50-percent market share in Europe, thanks to tax incentives and diesel-friendly legislation across the EU. Diesels are so passé there that you can buy a BMW 730d and no one will think it odd that your luxury car burns oil. Pull up in a diesel 7-Series in America and people would leer at you like you've alighted from an amphibious vehicle reeking of saltwater and dead trout.
But now, thanks to the oft-reported combo of newly-raised CAFE standards, not-so-newly-raised gas prices, and the 50-state diesel engine, GM, Ford, and Chrysler are about to dip more than a hesitant toe into the diesel game. Chrysler offers a diesel in the Grand Cherokee, but soon all three automakers will offer diesels in their best-selling lineups of light trucks -- the Dodge Ram 1500 is expected to offer a 50-state diesel after 2009. Light trucks are being used to lead the charge since those buyers stand to gain the most with the least amount of (perceived) sacrifice.
Diesels currently have 3.2-percent of the American market. Some estimates put them at 15-percent by 2015. That's a huge leap, and diesel still has plenty of hurdles. Diesels will come with a cost premium over gasoline-engined cars. That should be easy enough to conquer -- incentives and some quick cost and longevity calculations should convince people of the benefit. The real hurdle is the nagging issue of perception. The plan will probably be to attack that with a price that makes the proposition unbeatable. Said Chrysler's director of environmental affairs, "If it's priced right, we can sell diesel here. Diesel can give you an immediate poke in fuel economy -- 20 to 40 percent. Not many technologies can deliver that today."
