Uncle Meat»rank:par: Frank Zappa & The Mothers of Invention
Chroniques et points de vue:From :The soundtrack for a film that remained incomplete for over a decade, Uncle Meat is one of the finest albums produced by Zappa and the original Mothers of lnvention. Showcasing every facet of the band, Uncle Meat is filled with quirky Zappa instrumentals like the title track and the 'Dog Breath Variations,' rock staples like 'Cruisin' For Burgers' and 'Mr. Green Genes,' and an epic suite of instrumental fervor centered around the jazz-rock forerunner, 'King Kong'. This double CD edition also contains audio excerpts from the movie and a ... |

Zappa Album»rank:de: Bis
Chroniques et points de vue:From :Since his death, Frank Zappa has enjoyed several translations of his extremely original and quirky material onto discs performed by jazz ensembles and major European orchestras with such eminent conductors as Pierre Boulez. Not too shabby. This disc by the Finnish Ensemble Ambrosius takes some of Zappa's more tuneful pieces and reworks them for Baroque instruments. This is actually a brilliant maneuver, since much of Zappa's writing translates well for such instruments as oboe, harpsichord, and mandolin (or lute). Highlights here include the catchy theme from Uncle Meat, the ... |

Apostrophe»rank:par: Frank Zappa
Chroniques et points de vue: essential recording:Thanks to the surprise radio airplay of 'Don't Eat that Yellow Snow,' Apostrophe introduced a whole new audience to the music of Frank Zappa in the early '70s. Like its companion set, 0ver-Nite Sensation, this album found Zappa producing highly polished jazz-rock, mixing tales of absurd characters with musical showmanship and snarling guitar work. The first half of the album is a sort of mini-concept album, relating the adventures of an Eskimo named Nanook, and the second half features such Zappa classics as 'Cosmik Debris' and 'Stink-Foot.' --Andrew ... |

Roxy & Elsewhere»rank:par: Frank Zappa
Chroniques et points de vue:From :This mostly live set features Zappa performing with the popular Mothers of lnvention line-up of the early 70's--including jazz-funk meister George Duke, Napolean Murphy Brock on saxophone, and Ruth Underwood on percussion. Highlights include the souped-up funk of 'Pygmy Twylyte,' burning renditions of favorites 'Penguin in Bondage' and 'More Trouble Every Day,' and the hilarious monster movie tribute 'Cheepnis.' Duke steals the show on several tracks, and Zappa's guitar work and 'master of ceremonies' showmanship is in top form. --Andrew Boscardin Un Essentiel amazon.fr:Avec ce live originellement sorti en ... |

Joe's Garage: Act I»rank:par: Frank Zappa
Chroniques et points de vue:From Amazon.co.uk:The Central Scrutinizer is out to protect you from the harmful effects of that horrible force called music. Such is the premise of Joe's Garage, Frank Zappa's three-act concept album that explores the world of groupies, governments, sex toys and Catholic school girls. As always, Zappa's aim is true and his scope wide, following Joe (voiced by his long-time co-conspirator, lke Willis) as he starts a band, loses his girl, falls in love with a robot and tries to find his true place in society. Filled with catchy classics ... |
