Chroniques et points de vue:From :'Wake Up,' a track from the debut full-length by Montreal's Arcade Fire, builds from a midtempo strum into a 'You Can't Hurry Love' gallop, which singer Win Butler interrupts with a yell: 'You better look out below!' Somehow, none of this hits the ear as overemotional. Throughout
Funeral, the band augments its five-piece lineup with string sections, weaving near-cinematic, folk-influenced chamber pop that slots in somewhere between Belle and Sebastian's delicacy and the robust classicism of '80s New Zealand bands such as the Chills and the Verlaines. The album drips with enough romanticism to rival Jeff Buckley's
Grace, from the dreamscape of 'Neighborhood #1 (Tunnels)' ('Meet me in the middle of the town, forget all we used to know') to the epic realism of 'ln the Backseat.' 0ne of the indie rock community's most beloved finds of 2004, Arcade Fire are poised to win over even more listeners.

funeral - pitchforkmedia
Earlier this year, Montreal-based The Arcade Fire's ferocious live show secretly incited a bidding war that saw the band bouncing between three of North America's most respected indie labels before finally landing with Merge. While their demos offered virtually no indication of potential to outsiders, those who witnessed the group in concert would vouch that the band would soon prove to be of an exceptional caliber. Funeral is that proof-- a profoundly catharic, sophisticated, and melodic debut that finally restores "emotional" as a positive descriptor.

Chef-d'oeuvre

* Now the neighbours can dance ...
What can one say about the Arcade Fire that hasn't been said a thousand times in a thousand different ways over the last year or so? I won't bore you by repeating all the praise of their moving melodies, insightful lyrics, and explosive power. I'll keep it simple: They're magnificent, well worth your money. Us Kids Know it.

Good
The sound of this CD grew on me so at first sight, I didn't like it except for 3 songs...
But the more I listened to it the more I like it.
I really like "Crown of Love" "In the Backseat", "Rebellion" ok...lets say almost all the album....
But I really like "Haïti" singed by Régine Chassagne... I thought she would sing in creole... This song really has a creole feel. Its my fave song...

* This fire is spreadin ...
The arcade fire are without a doubt one of the best new alternative rock bands out there. They change the definition of alternative rock for the better, they use the original rock and roll instruments like guitar, bass and drums but they use other instruments like xylophone, accordian, cello, violin and the piano then they fuse them all together to create something special. If you like bands like coldplay and great big sea or if you're just looking for a kind of music that's different than all the others than buy this CD
