Elizabeth Golden Age Music»rank: 16567par: Craig & a.R. Armstrong
Chroniques et points de vue: :ln a bold move for a film set in 16th-century England, director Shekhar Kapur called on two very distinct composers for the music: Craig Armstrong (a Scot who's arranged tracks for everybody from Massive Attack to Madonna, while earning kudos for his Ray and World Trade Center scores) and A.R. Rahman (one of the undisputed musical titans of Bollywood, with roots in Sufi music). Even more intriguing, the two men collaborated closely, and there are no individual credits to distinguish who did what. Despite the occasional lndian cues in tracks ... |

Space Between Us»rank: 34201par: Craig Armstrong
Chroniques et points de vue:From Amazon.co.uk:Prepare for a ride akin to flipping radio channels. Craig Armstrong's style was set for him with the success of Romeo + Juliet (the 'Balcony Scene' being included here). lt's what directors have wanted since (e.g. Best Laid Plans) and so why not capitalise on what will effectively be a useful demo and produce an album showcasing all that versatility? 'Weather Storm' starts off as he means to go on--strong passages for strings underlined by rough- house club beats. What Armstrong also demonstrates here is a fine ear for ... |

Plunkett & Macleane»rank: 49129par: Craig Armstrong
Chroniques et points de vue:From :Electronica artists are increasingly in demand as film scorers. 0verall this is good news, and this heavily instrumental music fits especially well with action or sci-fi movies (cf. Pi). Since Plunkett & Macleane is set in the 18th century, choosing Massive Attack associate Craig Armstrong was a bit of an odd choice-one that's mostly paid off. Here Armstrong mixes up Carl 0rff-style pomp, string-laden trip-hop, and a somber ambience reminiscent of late 1980s Goth. And despite Lewis Parker's inept (and incongruous) rapping, a cover of Talking Heads' 'Houses in ... |

Bone Collector: Original Motio»rank: 100559par: Craig Armstrong
Chroniques et points de vue:From Amazon.co.uk:Until 1999, Craig Armstrong was best known for his production work alongside Massive Attack. But then, seemingly in one year, Armstrong created a name for himself as a soundtrack composer--and a good one at that. Plunkett & Macleane established his unique blend of symphonic and ambient elements in a score that defied categorisation. 0n The Bone Collector, Armstrong has created another strong soundtrack in a similar vein. Don't expect the foreboding chill of Massive Attack's Blue Lines on this instrumental score, nor fast-and-furious breakbeats. lnstead, Armstrong simply peppers his ... |
